Róisín Murphy to feature on a reworked Jessie Ware album cut

Jul 29, 2023

Irish electro-pop singer Róisín Murphy will feature on a new version of Ware's song, 'Freak Me Now'.

English pop singer Jessie Ware has tapped the Irish electro-pop phenom Róisín Murphy for a new, reworked version of her song 'Freak Me Now' off of her latest album That! Feels Good!.

A music video for the track will be released on Friday by the pair, directed by Sophia Muller and Theo James.

Murphy gushed about the collaboration, calling it something that has been in the works for a while. "When [Ware] sent me ‘Freak Me Now’ I just adored it and felt it was perfectly right for me to be on the song," she said in a statement. "We had mad fun dressing up on the day of the video, it was fashion chaos!! Like a high-class jumble sale, behind the scenes. We laughed at our ridiculousness and we were very silly all day! Just love her and loved everything about working with her."

“It is a huge honour to have the queen of disco, Róisín Murphy on ‘Freak Me Now,'” Ware said of Murphy in the same statement. “I have admired her work for so many years and respect her so much. To have her on one of the most fun tracks on That! Feels Good! Is amazing. I can’t wait for us to do this together live in the future!”

Ware released the original cut of her fifth studio LP That! Feels Good! in April. The new track with Murphy is Ware's second update since the original tracks were released, also releasing a Joe Goddard remix of her track 'Begin Again'.

Murphy is also in the midst of releasing a series of singles ahead of the release of her upcoming album, Hit Parade. Her most recent single, 'You Knew', dropped earlier this month. Hit Parade is due in September, and will follow Murphy's acclaimed 2022 album, Roísín Machine.

She performed a show at Trinity College in Dublin earlier this month, and you can read Hot Press's live review here.
